It was found in this study that the majority of people holding warm therapy pads would choose a gift for their loved one or themselves rather than for themselves. After testing by holding the therapy pad, the researchers were given an offer to choose a reward for themselves or for a friend or loved one. Participants claimed that they played a role in evaluating the therapeutic product. In the 2nd study the following was done: The researcher recruited 53 participants and these participants were asked to hold a hot or cold therapy pad. ![]() Participants holding a warm cup of coffee were much more likely to be sympathetic to the information provided than those holding an iced coffee. After receiving the information, the test participants were asked to rate the person's personality with a questionnaire. Next, when entering the test room, the test participants were given some information about an unknown person and described with words such as smart, ingenious, industrious, practical, and cautious. Half of the participants were asked to hold a warm cup of coffee and half were asked to hold a cup of iced coffee. Participants did not know the cup of coffee was part of the experiment. In the elevator on the way up, the experimenter asked the participant to hold his or her cup of coffee. An experimenter met each participant in the lobby of the building where the trial was being conducted.
